Dreams may not be real but they are a reality of life. Very often you are left totally terrified and you suddenly wake up to realize that it was just a dream – yet the fear and panic are very real. Sometimes you wish for something to happen and it materializes in dream. You wake up to find that nothing has changed and you wish the dream could have lasted longer! This is the unreal reality of dreams.

Dreams are both a barometer of your emotional health and a natural process of emotional release to provide you opportunities for self-healing. They are symbolic indicators of your current behavior pattern and emotional state that require correction. Sometimes the pattern gets resolved when the dream percolates into the waking state and you knowingly or unknowingly adjust your response. However, the art of lucid dreaming gives you full control on the script of your dreams.

Can you take charge of your dreams?

Would it not be nice if you can take control of the state of dreaming just as you control activities in your waking hours? If you think that it is difficult or not possible – you are wrong. In fact, you can easily learn to take charge of your dreams. In order to understand that, first read this basic but useful information about the role and importance of brainwaves.

Your brain controls all your mental and emotional states; whether we you are dreaming, sleeping, thinking, worried, tense, or relaxed. And the brain in turn is controlled by different brainwaves depending upon what you are feeling and doing. The brainwaves connected to dreams lie in the theta region, 4 – 7 Hz; the delta waves (1 – 4 Hz) prevail when you are fast asleep. When you are active and waking your brain will be dominated by alpha waves (7-13 Hz). This information will help you understand how to create awareness in dreams in order to control them.

When you are sleeping your brain goes into the low frequency realm of delta brainwaves. When dreaming starts the brainwaves go into the theta region. So, what can you do to become alert but still continue to dream? The trick lies in developing expertise to pick up some alpha waves whereby you are awake, and then quickly falling back to theta state of dreaming. So, now what has happened is that you are mentally alert and yet are dreaming! This is what lucid dreaming is all about. Brainwave entrainment beats make it extremely easy for you.

Brainwave technology offers a convenient way to achieve it. There are music recordings of sounds such flowing river, rain, ocean waves, waterfall, gong, etc but are embedded with brain entrainment beats that are designed for lucid dreaming. You can choose from three forms of entrainment: binaural beats are probably used most commonly and need headphone; monaural beat recordings do not require headphone and are more effective than binaural beats; and isochronic tone recordings, which are the most effective.

Meditation and self-hypnosis have been the usual ways to go into the lower frequency brainwave states. But now advances in the brainwave entrainment technology have made it possible to get into any desired brainwave state easily, merely by listening to music embedded with some special beats. It certainly did change mine: a little over ten years ago, when I began to experience a series of spontaneous out of body experiences and lucid dreams, my outlook on life and my place in the universe was redefined.

It is one thing, of course, to imagine what it would be like to go through walls as an un-material entity and another to be actually experiencing it. Going through walls is only the beginning though. People undergoing out of body experiences report a wide variety of occurrences that range from meeting other beings not manifest in usual physical reality to having “astral sex” while in that state.

This series of experiences ten years ago seemingly happened without my conscious involvement but now that I want to induce astral traveling consciously and at will I’m finding the process to be a more difficult one than I would have thought.

Adepts of astral projection can literally train and practice for years before getting to the point of enjoying significant conscious control over the bringing about of such experiences? let alone having command over the out of body adventures themselves.

Thankfully, it is possible to get a big helping hand in the conscious exploration of astral travel by the way of binaural beats (also known as brainwave entrainment).

Binaural beats are sound frequencies designed to influence the brain waves of the listener in a variety of fashions. An astral projection binaural beats recording gets the brain to generate frequencies between 4 and 7 Hz (theta waves) the same frequencies that the brain would be producing during any out of body experience.

By gently having the brain enter theta mode using binaural beats, it then becomes possible to exit the physical body much more easily.

This may seem a little strange at first but it is a safe tool: binaural beats were discovered over 170 years ago and have been extensively researched and used since the 1970s.

Best of all, they work remarkably well! They literally can make the difference between success and failure in your exploration of binaural beats as it did for me. Using them still requires you to relax deeply and possibly use an exit technique or visualization to get out of the body but this process is dramatically facilitated by the binaural sounds.
